Crying Game

Beginning here first

I cried today, without tissue paper,

Because there was no tear. Only a rip.

fuck what this day has brought

because I cried today

Most ask why but I challenge the notion

For today was not about the

Second to last letter or even a what

But about a how, the overlooked cry without an L

I cried out today

In anger, frustration and impatience

Into the weight of the air

Unknowing the distance it would travel

Crying inwards we drown alone

In the emotional maelstrom of the days

When all the time in the world has stopped

Because only a single conflict remains

This cry lacked a sadness and torment

And instead offered a peace

As we watch our old life go

Thinking “it’s a crying shame”
